Tagaytay City is located at the highest point of Cavite Province, Island of Luzon. It is linked by a national highway going to the Province of Batangas and Metropolitan Manila. It is also connected by roads to the adjoining municipalities of Amadeo, Mendez, Indang and Alfonso. Land are is 6,615 hectares, representing 5.15% of Cavite's total area. Tagaytay is approximately 56 km. from Metro Manila. It overlooks Manila Bay at the north, Taal Lake and Volcano on the south, Laguna Bay on the east and the China Sea on the west. The southern and eastern portion of Tagaytay are covered with hills and mountains which are generally forest and open grasslands, while the north western areas are level to nearly level areas alternating with gently sloping surfaces.
Climate
Located 2,500 ft. above sea level, Tagaytay enjoys a cool, invigorating climate. Average temperature is 22.7 o C which becomes relatively cooler during December to February. Northeasterly winds prevail in the city from October to April, southwest winds from May through September. Like most areas in Cavite, the city has two season; dry from November to April and wet the rest of the year. Maximum rain occurs from July to September. Average humidity is 78% which is cooler than Metro Manila where relative humidity exceeds 81% Light cardigans or jackets, comfortable walking shoes, and loose clothing are advisable.

Dining
Most hotels have restaurants. A wide selection of food is available, from Filipino to International cuisine, plus abundant array of local fruits. “Tawilis”, a small type of fish only found in the Taal Lake and “Maliputo”, prized delicacy, are served in most restaurant and are worth tasting. The “Tawilis” is eaten either roasted or over hot coals or deep fried to a to crisp. There are other specialty restaurant in the city that serve local and international cuisines. Most restaurant are open fro breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Accommodation
Tagaytay offers more the 200 rooms ranging from economy to superior and deluxe accommodation. Most hotels have air-conditioned rooms, hot and cold water, restaurant, and offers a good view of Taal Volcano. Convention and business facilities are available at the prestigious Development Academy of the Philippines as well as at the numerous resorts and hotels here. Most hotels accommodate “walk in” customers. However, reservations are highly recommended in major especially during summer and weekends when tourist traffic is at its peak. Most major hotels have booking and reservation offices in Manila. Reservation maybe done directly or through your travel again.

People & Industry
Tagaytay City has a population of about 38,561 as of May 1,2000. English and Tagalog are the primary languages spoken. The people of Tagaytay are hospitable, friendly and peace loving. In return, they expect courtesy from every tourist. The man sources of livelihood are agriculture and tourism. By enforcing strict zoning and land use policies, the city has provided environment friendly industries and ecology-oriented tourism, development.

How to get there
Tagaytay is an hour and 15 minutes drive from Manila via the South Superhighway or through the Coastal Road. If going through South Superhighway, take Carmona Exit and drive down through Governor's Drive and Silang up to the entrance of Tagaytay City. Or through South Superhighway, take Santa Rosa Exit going Straight to Tagaytay City. There was Two possible ways to get to Tagaytay City via Coustal Road by taking Indang & Mendez roads on Trece Martirez and Amadeo areas. If coming from the neighboring town of Ternate, Cavite take the Naic road and drive straight to Indang and Trece Martirez. From Batangas Provinces, the best way to reach Tagaytay is though the next circumferential read. From Laguna, you may enter Tagaytay through the Carmona Exit.

There are buses travel to Tagaytay from Manila everyday from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. the BLTB, CROW and other bus companies have their terminals in EDSA, Pasay City and at Baclaran, below LRT in Manila.
